Borgo tra gli Olivi has belonged to our family for over 4 generations. A Borgo is a small cluster of homes that in the past functioned like small villages with neighbours helping one another in the planting, pruning, and harvesting of food. They often made their own bread in a shared outside oven. Our great-grandparents have taught us to cultivate and unconditionally love our olive trees. We are proud to boast that our extra-virgin olive oil is certified organic and produced with much attention to tradition. Our guests are welcomed to taste and purchase our extra-virgin olive oil. The Borgo was transformed into an Agriturismo in May of 2015. It was restored with the maximum respect for tradition and the environment. It was enhanced by interventions that were environmentally sustainable and efficient in order to protect the natural heritage of the land surrounding us.
The Borgo is composed of a main stone home where our family live: Alberto, Lucia and Matteo. On the ground floor, our guests will find the reception area, breakfast room, kitchen and a quaint living are with a small chimney. In the adjacent structures there are 6 rooms. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. They have been furnished with traditional Tuscan elements which have been recuperated and restored like old barn doors, wooden containers used for the olive picking, and Nonna’s antique furniture. Every room is equipped with a private bathroom that includes a hairdryer, heating and air conditioning, Television, free Wi-Fi, small fridge, electric boiler with teas and organic toiletries made from olive oil. Our Wellness Corner is perfect for guests that are looking to pamper themselves. It is possible to book massages and personalized wellness treatments that will be provided for by a trained professional. Our swimming pool is equipped with sun beds and is open from May to September. It is the perfect place to relax with a good book, take in the sun, enjoy the spectacular view of the Valdichina Valley and cool off during the hot summer days.
The breakfast buffet is prepared in respect of Tuscan products like our antique Tuscan grain flour. Every morning we offer our guests fresh cakes, panini, homemade biscuits, marmalade and fruit juices (using seasonal fruit), homemade yogurt, organic Tuscan cereal, boiled fresh local eggs, organic honey, dried fruit and fresh vegetables from our gardens and an ample selection of locally produced cold cuts and cheese.
In order to fully respect and enhance our territory, our agriturismo was restructured following policies that were environmentally sustainable and efficient. For this reason we installed innovative and state of the art heating and cooling systems. Our farm and olive grove have always been very careful to operate with the most respect for the environment and that is why we produce only organic olive oil, wine and vinsanto. We also pay close attention to cook with our own produce, as well as local and regional products.
In order to protect the health of our guests, “Borgo tra gli Olivi” has decided to sanitize all the structures of our agriturismo by using Ozone, a method that is highly ecological, natural and safe. The oxidizing actions of Ozone naturally destroy bacteria, viruses, mites, melds, insects and disinfecting the entire space.
After the customary cleanings of the rooms with the use of specific detergents and disinfectants as indicated by the Italian Superior Health Institute, the Ozone machine will be placed in each room for the time needed to sanitize it. The equipment will use the oxygen present in the air to generate Ozone and therefore no one can be in the room when it is being used. After its use, the oxygen will be renewed in the space and the room will be sanitized and disinfected including the mattress, pillows, curtains, blankets, sink, toilet, etc.
Of course, the breakfast room and the wellness corner will also be sanitized in the same fashion.
The Ministry of Health with protocol n. 24482 del 31/07/1996 has recognized Ozone as a natural method to sterilize environments contaminated by virus, bacteria, spores, moulds, and mites.
The Valdichiana Aretina has always been known as the rural heart of Tuscany. Man and Nature have found an equilibrium that gives as a result unique products in taste and in nutritional value. Aglione, Chianina beef, extra-virgin olive oil, and wine are just a few examples of this virtuous union between man and landscape; a landscape that has been modified by the wise hands of farmers through out time. The Valdichiana was a very important site for the Etruscan civilization. It has also been the backdrop for important books like Under the Tuscan Sun.
